Special Christmas Announcement
Unfortunately, the owners of the Christmas tree farm who have been supplying our trees for decades, have closed their farm.
At this late date, we have been unable to find another grower to supply our trees.
So, for the first time in over 80 years, we have decided to not sell cut trees, grave blankets or holiday wreaths.
We will, however, continue to offer live trees for the holidays.
We would like to thank all of our loyal holiday customers for visiting us over these many years.
We hope you'll keep us in mind for your future holiday needs!

The Old Farmer's Almanac™ predictions for the 2022-2023 winter season:
Region 6: Lower Lakes Winter will be colder than normal, with the coldest temperatures in early December and late January to mid-February. Both precipitation and snowfall will be above normal. The snowiest periods will be in late November to early December and early to mid-January.
Region 7: Ohio Valley Winter will be colder than normal, with below-normal precipitation but above-normal snowfall. The coldest periods will occur in early and mid-December, early and late January, and much of February, with the snowiest periods throughout January and in late February and early March.

Experience is preferred but not necessary. On–the–job training is provided with advancement opportunities available. A positive attitude is a must with a willingness to learn. These are full time positions with overtime available during the busy season. These are physically demanding positions and we work in most weather conditions as well. Starting pay is based on experience and knowledge.

Veggie Plants

Due to shortages of materials, we will not have vegetable plants this year. The grower informed us the crop is very small and minimally successful. Portions of the soil mix have been unavailable this year and the substitutions did not work as planned.

Planting Tomatoes

Tomato Planting
Every year, right about now, we have many customers calling to ask about tomato plants. Here’s what we want everyone to know.
The average current soil temperatures on our part of Ohio is between 54 & 57 degrees F. The best soil temperature for tomato transplants is between 65 & 70.
We may be able to get the plants to survive with colder than optimum soil temperatures, but the roots won’t thrive. Generally, planting early does not mean earlier fruit.
The best transplant time for us is sometimes as early as Early May. Mid to late May could be better considering the weather so far this year.
Sorry! I know if you’re like I am, my mouth waters just thinking about biting into a vine ripened tomato picked right in my own yard.
